Alex Ruocco

My name is Alexandro Maria Ruocco, but everyone just calls me Alex.

I play with paper since I was born. Geometric shapes, symmetries, circles repeated until they find balance. It’s my way of observing and building.

I realized this could become a job. Or at least an attempt. Today I design visual identities, websites, and everything related to visual communication, with a certain obsession for subtracting more than adding. If something can be simplified, I probably will. If it can’t… I try anyway.

New technologies are part of the game: sometimes I chase them, sometimes they chase me. When in doubt, I experiment and see what happens.

I like art, but not museums. I prefer to find it elsewhere, in everyday things, in details, in mistakes, in unexpected combinations.

I draw on small sheets, with pencil. Lines, words, and symbols intertwine in essential compositions, more instinctive, less controlled. Sometimes they make sense, sometimes less. That’s fine. Perhaps it’s the most honest part.
