Brief

The project focused on the graphic design of a guidance note about reducing climate risk in high-mountain communities in Peru. The document brings together the results of a project developed in the Huascarán Biosphere Reserve, involving local communities and government agencies, with support from Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture. Through a participatory approach, the publication documents strategies for ecosystem management, forest restoration, and livelihood resilience in Andean contexts exposed to significant climate risk. The challenge was to give a clear visual structure to a dense technical document, making it accessible to both policymakers and local actors working directly in the territory.

Idea

The graphic design works within the FAO visual system, bringing together the elements defined by the institutional guidelines through focused design choices. Purple was introduced as an accent colour with a precise role: creating contrast within the palette and guiding attention towards the most relevant content, such as numerical data, section titles, and highlighted text blocks. In a document filled with technical information, colour becomes a tool for visual orientation before it becomes an aesthetic gesture. Typography and composition follow a clear and steady rhythm, designed to support readability while preserving the formal consistency expected from this kind of publication.
